Mechanized devices that use fixed quantities of wet heat to smooth, relax, and fix the strain on undyed woven material so as to avoid severe creasing and felting at the subsequent dyeing stage. These devices are also sometimes used to smooth and level dyed fabric. Dyed or undyed woven materials are wound dry and level on the device's rotating cylindrical roller that is partially imersed in hot water for a specificed amount of time. The device then subjects the steamed fabric to cold water, before reversing the fabric and completing the process on the backside.
